How does Frontline Plus differ from the rest?
Frontline Plus is also a great topical flea product, but it also fights against ticks too. Top Spot Plus also has an insect growth regulator (IGR) to kill flea eggs before they have a chance to hatch. It is applied in the same manner as Advantage, but Top Spot finds it's home in the oil glands of your pet's skin.  This "hiding place" allows you to bathe your pet throughout the month with out losing efficacy.  We also stand behind this product, or your money back!
What ever happened to Program?
Program, the flea "birth control pill" is still around, but at Pace Veterinary Clinic you can only find it in Sentinel form.  Sentinel is Program flea control and Interceptor heartworm prevention.  Program does not kill fleas, it only prevents flea eggs from hatching, so we recommend a product that kills fleas before they have a chance to lay eggs.
When is the right time to use Capstar?
Capstar is a great new flea pill that has it's own special place in the flea world.  Within 15 minutes of administering this pill you can literally watch the dying fleas "abandon ship".  The pill keeps killing fleas for 24 hours and is then completely out of your pet's system.  Because of this pill's short life span, we recommend a month long topical treatment for those pets that will go back to the same flea infested environment.  We use Capstar everyday on pets suffering from fleas that stay with us for surgery, hospitalization, or bathing so they are guaranteed to go home flea free!
